Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak stated that his country plans to implement quality control for all grain products coming from Ukraine.
Kolodziejczak told state news agency PAP that he would request an inspection of all exported and embargoed grain shipments.
"When such grains reach Germany and are found to be of poor quality after examination, 99 percent of the time they return to Poland as European grain, not to Ukraine," the Polish Deputy Minister said.
This statement comes as Polish farmers continue protests across the country, including over the allowance of cheap grain products from Ukraine.
Farmers in Poland, in addition to the demonstrations they have been holding throughout the country since Friday to protest EU agricultural policies and the government's lack of support, have been organizing roadblocks on roads and border crossings leading to Ukraine.
In their statements, representatives of Poland's new pro-European government assure that they understand the difficulties faced by farmers in the country and that the interests of Polish farmers cannot be put on the back burner while providing aid to Ukraine, which is occupied by Russia.
For the last month, farmers in France, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Spain and Germany have been protesting the restrictions imposed on them by the EU's measures to combat climate change, as well as the increasing costs and unfair competition for agricultural products coming from abroad.
