The Polish education system has undergone significant changes after the country's entry into the European Union, and its standards have been brought into line with European standards. In Poland, students finish secondary education at the age of 19 and take the Matura exam and are entitled to receive the Matura Certificate (Swiadectwo Dojrzalosci) and are placed in universities. There are more than a hundred universities in Poland. Technical universities, business and economic academies, engineering and agricultural universities, medical faculties and many other options are available in Poland. Generally, there are two types of academic degrees; Bachelor's Degree (Licencjat) and Master's Degree (Tytul Magistra). In Poland, undergraduate education takes 3 years and master's education takes 2 years. Students who complete their master's degree can then participate in additional training called Podyplomowe (Postgraduade Degree). These trainings usually last two or three semesters.
